Shock Predictions

Understanding the levels of shock and the effects this can have on equipment can be challenging, but it is vital in order to correctly select the correct type of mounting, the mounting arrangement, and in the general design of equipment. This is of particular interest in naval applications, which usually have high accelerations and large displacements, but this is equally important for other applications where the accelerations and displacements are much lower, but pose a significant threat to delicate components.

The technical team at Caparo Dynamics are able to provide shock calculations and theoretical predictions for a wide variety of shock grades relating to many different shock specifications. By using both in-house software and MoD approved software, we are able to provide predictions for transmitted accelerations and relative displacements.

Common naval shock specifications are the BR3021 and BR8470 from the British Navy and MIL-S-901D from the US Navy. All of these are used and referenced by other navies throughout the world.

Whatever the shock application, the experienced and qualified technical team at Caparo Dynamics are ready to provide information and advice to ensure that your equipment is fully fit for purpose.
